03 Mar EU Foundation Urges Firms to Comply with Data Privacy Act
Last Thursday, the president of the European Innovation, Technology, and Science Center (EITSC) told companies operating in the Philippines to comply with the country’s data privacy law ahead of the deadline set by the National Privacy Commission.
Compliance to the Republic Act (RA) 10173 is set on March 8 and EITSC president Henry Schumacher revealed that while more than a hundred companies who took their data privacy awareness workshops seemed non-compliant, he expects the participants will be able to meet the deadline.
The Data Privacy Act of 2012 requires companies with at least 250 employees, or those have access to the personal data of at least 1,000 people to designate a data protection officer (DPO) and register their data processing systems with NPC.
