EU Data Protection Chief Steps Down, Issues Warning

Last Wednesday, EU’s data privacy boss Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin stepped down after four years of heading the bloc’s group of regulators.

Falque-Pierrotin, who has been recognized as a high-level civil servant and global tech industry leader, warned EU regulators against complacency. She added that the challenges regarding the enforcement of the new regime are mounting, and that Europe should not consider itself as a “fortress” in terms of its data adequacy decisions.

With her background and work experience, Falque-Pierrotin is said to be attracting a lot of offers from both the public and private sector. However, the chief regulator says she is still keeping her options open.
