EU Court Will Throw Out Australia’s Anti-Encryption Bill, UN Special Rapporteur Says

UN Special Rapporteur Joe Cannataci told the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security (PJCIS) this week to focus on dealing with encrypted communication rather than breaking it.

Cannataci also called the proposed Assistance and Access Bill a technologically naive framework that ignores the realities and dangers of the digital world, and it will likely be thrown out of a European court.

He also pointed out that the Bill will be rendered useless as terrorists and criminals will simply roll out their own encryption rather than use regular services.
