02 Jan Epic Games Denies Leaking User Data to Chinese Gov’t
In a Reddit post last week, Epic Games founder Tim Sweeney denied claims that his company had been sharing user data with the Chinese government via Tencent, an investor in the company since 2013.
Sweeney said that he would never allow such sharing to happen and clarified that the data sharing being referred to in the EULA only pertains to tax purposes, and that the company is independent of Tencent which is only a minority investor.
He added that while their game servers are hosted on Amazon’s web services, no other third party has access to their customer data.
