Emotet Malware Group Caught Mass-Harvesting Emails for Unknown Campaign

The cybercriminal group behind the Emotet malware has reportedly embarked on a mass email harvesting campaign using a revamped version of their banking trojan, according to Kryptos Logic this week.

It is said that the malware has become so ubiquitous that US Homeland Security had to issue an advisory over the summer.

According to experts, the Emotet malware downloads a number of smaller modules once it gains a foothold. It also is usually accompanied by other potent threats such as the TrickBot infostealer and other remote access trojans or ransomware.
