Election 2018 Security Worries State Election Officials

Attendees at the National Association Secretaries of State conference this Saturday voiced their concerns on whether proper security measures can be put in place prior to the 2018 elections. State election official worry about the possibility of interference from foreign countries in the U.S elections.

In the fall of last year, The Department of Homeland Security revealed that voter registration systems were targeted by hackers who might be Russian agents. Meanwhile, another leaked NSA document reports hacking attempts from Russian military intelligence to access voter registration software in at least eight states.

Officials from 37 states attended the conference last Friday. A series of closed-door meetings last Saturday were held by the FBI and Homeland Security to alleviate growing concerns.
