Denmark Tax Authority to Collect Crypto Traders Identity Information

Denmark’s tax authority announced this week that it has been given the green light by the country’s Tax Council to obtain the trading information of three domestic cryptocurrency exchanges.

The information will include names, addresses and personal tax numbers, as well as details of all crypto transactions made on their platforms between Jan. 1 2016 to Dec. 31 2018. Agency director Karin Bergen also said that information on foreign citizens including their businesses’ identity and transaction data will be passed over to their respective countries’ tax authorities.

The new mandate is expected to give the tax agency greater powers to control the cryptocurrency sector.
