Delivery Drivers Sends Creepy Messages to UK Woman, Privacy Concerns Raised

Privacy issues involving delivery app Just Eat were recently raised after the company’s delivery driver sent a UK woman unsolicited messages.

Michelle Midwinter said that she received a WhatsApp message saying ‘Hy’ from a number she didn’t recognize. She complained to Just Eat after she discovered that the sender was the driver who had just delivered her food.

The company initially tried to compensate Midwinter by offering her an $8 voucher for the “inconvenience”, which they then raised to $17 after Midwinter pressed the issue.

The UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) said that it will be looking into the matter, which could possibly be a breach of the Data Protection Act.
