19 Dec De Lima Wants Baguio School Mandatory Pregnancy Test Probed
Senator Leila De Lima filed last week a resolution seeking a Senate investigation into the pregnancy test requirement being imposed by Baguio’s Pines City Colleges.
De Lima called the school policy a discriminatory act in Senate Resolution No. 967, and said that it deprives girls and women their right to education and proliferates the stigma against pregnancy as well.
The chair of the Senate committee on social justice, welfare, and rural development also said there was an urgent need to address women’s educational concerns for them to be able to “attain their full productive capacity” and contribute to national development.
