Data of Millions of Sky Brasil Customers Exposed by ElasticSearch Server Leak

Around 32 million Sky Brasil subscriber records were reportedly exposed by an ElasticSearch server that had been left unsecured for more than a week.

Security researchers Fabio Castro said that the unsecured server was found via Shodan, a search engine used for finding internet-connected devices.

The data that was leaked contained names, home addresses, phone numbers, birth dates, billing details, and encrypted passwords.

Castro said that Sky station never answered to him directly, but he found that the server was secured the Monday after his disclosure with what appeared to be a password, limiting external users from viewing its content.
