Court Rules in Favor of Pharma in Personal Info Leak Case

Seoul, South Korea – Last Monday, the Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of Korea Pharmaceutical Information Center (KPIC) and Korean Pharmaceutical Association (KPA) in a case filed by around 2000 doctors and patients for leakage of personal information.

The court said that even though KPIC and IMS Health Korea were found to have leaked sensitive patient information, there wasn’t enough evidence that damage was inflicted on the plaintiffs. Additionally, they said that the legal application period was also over.

However, since the judges already recognized that the defendants had violated personal information protection law, the same charge is likely to be recognized in a criminal suit.
