Consumers Deleting Social Media Apps Over Security Concerns, New Study Says

According to a new study by data analytics firm SAS, around 56 percent of 525 adult consumers in the US said they have deleted an app from their device over privacy concerns.

Additionally, 36 percent have removed a social media account for the same reasons, and 38% of the respondents said they now use social media less often.

SAS GPDR Solutions Global Lead Todd Wright said that the results suggest that with increased data privacy concerns at present, even without a more stringent data privacy law in the U.S., organizations that treat their customers’ data with care will be rewarded, and those that do not will risk losing their customers and reputation.
