Consumer Rights Watchdog Calls for Ban of Flawed IoT Toys

UK consumer rights group “Which?” recently issued a warning to parents about the dangers of connected toys, and also called for a ban for such devices with known privacy and security risks.

Which? says that it worked with privacy experts for around a year, investigating several IoT toys being sold by popular retailers. The group posted the results of its findings on toys such as Furby Connect; I-Que Intelligent Robot; Toy-fi Teddy; and CloudPets cuddly toy.

Which? further revealed that it is fairly easy to connect via Bluetooth to these toys to communicate to the child. Furthermore, the Bluetooth connections of these toys are highly unsecure as they don’t use any form of authentication.
