09 Feb Consumer Reports: Smart TVs May Compromise User Personal Data
American Consumer Union publication Consumer Reports recently revealed that a number of smart TVs may not be as secure and can possibly be controlled by hackers.
The consumer magazine said that several Samsung and TCL models, as well as others that use the Roku TV platform were found to have some easy-to-find security vulnerabilities. They said that a hacker could take over a user’s tv by tampering with the device’s programming interface called the API, which has not been secured properly.
This is Consumer Report’s the first test using the Digital Standard which is used to evaluate the privacy and security of products and services.
