Compromised Ad Networks Steal Credit Card Information

Researchers from Trend Micro recently revealed that Paris-based online ad company Adverline had been hacked and its infrastructure had been used to inject malware into hundreds of online stores, with the intent of stealing credit card information.

According to a report by RiskIQ, the Adverline hack is a complicated form of a Magecart attack where websites are implanted by malicious code designed to skim credit card information.

RiskIQ said that Adverline seems to have been breached by a new Magecart group using the modus operandi of another group, but the compromised sites have already stopped working and it is not sure if the group, or the domain registrar was the one that had taken them down.
