Companies Opt to Block EU Users Instead of Complying With GDPR

A number of companies are reportedly turning to tools and services which block EU users altogether instead of ensuring their compliance to the upcoming GDPR.

One such service, called GDPR Shield, promises website owners a way to circumvent the compliance requirements of the GDPR by using a JavaScript-based solution to block users in the European Union.

Additionally, F-Secure CRO Mikko Hypponen also listed in a series of tweets companies which will be ceasing their services for EU users because of the GDPR. He noted that the general sentiment in the EU on the matter is that their “Our freedom is more important than their business,”.
