Comelec Says DICT-Hosted Website More Secure, No More Data Breaches

Commission on Elections Executive Director Jose Tolentino Jr. promised this week that the poll body’s website is now more secure and voter data breaches such as the one in 2016 will not happen again.

Responding to a question from Sen. Antonio Trillanes, Tolentino said that no one has yet been able to get into the Comelec’s system now that it is being hosted by the Department of Information and Communications Technology. He added that Comelec also has made a backup database that is not connected to any website.

Tolentino also assured the senator that voter data is now completely protected and the Commission will be able to respond accordingly to any future attacks.
