Colchester Midwife Guilty of Breaching Patient Medical Records

Reports revealed that a midwifery assistant had shared personal data and medical records of patients from the Colchester General Hospital.

Described as a generally “nosy” person, Brioney Woolfe accessed the information of six men and 23 women, some via the Medway patient portal system.

Chairman of the bench Donald Wicks said that breaching patient confidentiality that involves passing of information to a third party were serious charges.

A mother of two, Woolfe had already been reported to the head of the hospital and has been relieved of her job from the NHS trust. She also received a fine totalling to £1,715.
