CoinCheck to Delist Popular Privacy Coins

Monex-owned cryptocurrency exchange CoinCheck recently announced that it will be delisting 4 privacy-focused coins – Zcash, Dash, Augur and Monero. The move, which may have been prompted by increasing watchfulness of Japanese regulators on the industry, is seen as an attack on financial privacy by those in the cryptocurrency sector.

The Japanese government says that the privacy coins and tokens are used mainly for illicit activities.

It is also said that Monex’s acquisition of CoinCheck, which was recently involved in one of the biggest cryptocurrency hacks in history, may likely result to the company’s further compliance to stricter rules and regulations.
