Coinbase Ordered to Turn Over US User Details to IRS

A federal California court ordered cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase to furnish the IRS details of over 14,355 users.

The decision marks a win for the IRS who filed the lawsuit against Coinbase in November 2016. The US agency is working to pursue users who trading Bitcoin between January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2015, but did not file taxes.

The IRS revealed that out of the millions who traded on Coinbase’s platform during that time, only around 900 had paid their taxes.
