Chinese Increasingly Worried About Personal Information Security, Survey Says

A survey by China Youth Daily showed last Tuesday that the Chinese are still very much worried about the security of their information.

Polling 2,024 individuals, as high as 92% said that they are concerned about the safety of their personal data. 84.5% said they had been required to share their personal information to companies when downloading apps, and 67% believe that some app producers have been arbitrarily collecting users’ information.

Zhu Wei, an associate professor at the China University of Political Science and Law, says that user information is often used for targeted advertisements, but a lot of companies do not yet have the manpower to protect users’ privacy, and the source of the leaks can only be tracked so far
