20 Sep Chinese Antivirus App on PlayStore Siphons User Data
Security researchers from Check Point recently alerted Google of suspicious activity on an antivirus app called DU Antivirus Security.
Made by the DU Group which is part of the Baidu conglomerate, the app was found to be sending back data such as unique identifiers, contact lists, call logs, and Location information to a server which was traced back to a Baidu employee.
The app was dropped from Google Play Store last August 21, and was reinstated after the DU Group removed the data collection mechanism.
