Cheap FormBook Malware Used in Global Hacking Campaign

FireEye researchers have recently uncovered hacking campaigns that use the data-stealing FormBook malware to target defense, aerospace, and manufacturing sectors in US and South Korea.

Advertised as a software designed to provide an “extensive and powerful Internet monitoring experience”, the FormBook malware is being sold in the underground market for as low as $29/week up to $299 for a full-package deal.

Researchers say that for a cheap malware, FormBook offers a wide range of capabilities, which makes it attractive to low-level cybercriminals. The malware is often delivered as an attachment, claiming to be invoices or contracts in PDF, Word, or Excel.
