24 Jan Center for Global Best Practices to Hold Data Privacy Act Seminar Next Month
A seminar entitled “Compliance and Implementation Best Practices to the Data Privacy Act” is set to be held by The Center for Global Best Practices at the Manila Marriott Hotel in Pasay City next month, February 9th.
The seminar intends to help organizations validate their action plan with regard to the Data Privacy Act or Republic Act 10173, which will be coming into its final phase on March 8. This means Philippine companies only have a month to implement compliance, otherwise they may be forced to stop processing transactions and pay damages to data subjects whose rights had been violated. Accountable officers of non-compliant organizations may even be faced with jail time.
The seminar will include notable speakers such as Sycip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan partner Rose Marie M. King-Dominguez, and e-PLDT’s chief information security officer Angel T. Redoble.
