18 Jul British Gas Phishing Email Steals Personal Data
UK – According to a report last Friday, there are some fake emails bearing the name of British Gas currently in circulation phishing for personal data.
In the email, British Gas customers are requested to click links to update their account details. But apart from actual customers, the email was also received by non-customers.
The fake emails look legitimate, but has many typographical errors upon closer inspection. A victim, Claire Pearson, claimed £65,000 had been stolen from her account after she sent her passcode to a suspicious email.
To date, people have notified British Gas about the phishing emails. The company responded by saying they will conduct an investigation.
