12 Sep Breached Chinese Hotel Group Reiterates Commitment to Customer Privacy
China’s Huazhu Group reiterated in a press release this week that it is committed to protecting the privacy and information of its customers.
The group, which is one of the biggest hotel operators in China, was reported last month to have been hit by a hacking incident which leaked the personal information of around 130 million customers.
Huazhu said that it had taken appropriate measures to minimize customer risks that the breach may have caused. The company also claims that it promptly reported the incident to Shanghai authorities and made a public announcement to clarify certain facts. It has also hired a number of data security firms to help determine the source of the information leak.
