17 Jan Brave Browser to Show Ads, Share Profits with Users
The company behind the privacy-focused Brave browser announced this week that it will be releasing a developer version of Brave 1.0 which will give users the option to view “privacy-respecting” ads.
According to co-founder and CEO Brendan Eich, the company is moving on to the second phase of its business and reward Brave browser users 70 percent of the revenue it will generate from ads.
Brave, however is facing an uphill battle as it will need to significantly grow its user base which currently sits at 5.5 million, compared to Google Chrome’s 2 billion plus. It will also have to convince potential advertising partners that the complicated ad technology is worth it.
