Bell Canada Suffers Second Breach in Eight Months, 100,000 Customers Compromised

Last Tuesday, BCE Inc. admitted that hackers were able to breach their systems and had stolen the data of around 100,000 customers. The data includes information such as names and email addresses.

Bell spokesperson Marc Choma assured that no credit card or banking information had been leaked. However, the breach follows another hack which occurred just last May 2017 where around 1.9 million email addresses and about 1,700 names and phone numbers were stolen from BCE’s database.

Bell added that it had already notified the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and that the RCMP is already investigating the incident, but did not reveal when the breach had taken place.
