Beijing Security Fair Showcases Surveillance Tech

It was reported that hundreds of “black tech” or cutting-edge surveillance tech dominated this year’s China International Exhibition on Police Equipment in Beijing.

It is said that the exhibition underscored the extent to which Chinese authorities are using technology to monitor and punish behavior that goes against the ruling Communist Party.

Some notable products were the Chinese-made XDH-CF-5600 scanner, a mobile sleuth which can crack smartphone password in seconds, rip personal data from call and messaging apps, and peruse the device’s contact book, and a Hisign scanner which is said to be able to siphon data from Apple’s iOS.
