Bannon Wanted to Use Cambridge Analytica Data for Culture War, Whistleblower Says

Facebook privacy scandal whistleblower Christopher Wylie told a Senate panel last Wednesday that former White House adviser Steve Bannon sought to use the information harvested by Cambridge Analytica to start a “culture war” in the US to create “enduring change” in American politics.

When questioned by Sen. Dianne Feinstein if it was possible for the data to end up in Russian hands, Wylie said that it would have been very easy to facilitate, and revealed that the creator of the Facebook data harvesting app, Aleksandr Kogan, frequented Moscow and St. Petersburg to work on projects funded by the Russian government.
