27 Dec AZTEC Protocol Brings Zero-Knowledge Privacy System to Ethereum
In a recent interview, AZTEC CTO Zac Williamson and CEO Tom Pocock discussed how their zero-knowledge protocol can improve the privacy of blockchain transactions despite the public nature of Ethereum.
Williamson and Pocock explained that AZTEC (Anonymous Zero-Knowledge Transactions with Efficient Communications) allows users to convert ERC20 tokens into notes, which are encrypted representations of value. This note can then represent any token value, and while the value and the viewing key which is required to access the note’s information are kept private, the Ethereum address of the note owner is still public. This means that anybody can see that a transaction occurred but not know how much was transacted.
