Australian Minister Downplays Medicare Data Sale on Dark Net

Human services minister of Australia Alan Tudge downplayed the sale of Medicare information by a darknet vendor after facing flak from privacy group and the opposition,

News page The Guardian reported on Tuesday that Medicare details can be bought from a darknet trader upon request. The trader allegedly accesses the data by taking advantage of a vulnerability in the government system, prompting concerns that the health agency may be compromised.

Tudge says in a press conference on Tuesday that there has been no security breach on their system and chalks the issue up as “traditional criminal activity.”
