09 Jun Australian Government Says No to Backdoor Encryption
Australia’s cyber security minister Angus Taylor said last Wednesday that the government is committed not to push for backdoors that could weaken encryption.
Taylor also remarked in his speech that “’We simply don’t need to weaken encryption in order to get what we need”. He also mentioned that Google’s encryption practices were great for cybersecurity and is welcomed by the government, and said that strengthening network and communication encryption is essential to restoring trust.
However, some said that Taylor’s speech revealed nothing new about the Australian government’s intentions.
