Australian Backdoor Bill Likely to Kill DApps

Blockchain journalist Luke Fitzpatrick wrote this week that Australia’s proposed ‘Access and Assistance’ bill, which may put an end to the online privacy of Australians, may also kill decentralized apps (DApps).

DApps, which have become the primary way users interact across the blockchain, are likely to be jeopardized since most allow users to control their online data and privacy. This could mean that some apps will not be able to comply with legislation due to its decentralized nature.

It is said that Microsoft, Facebook, and a number of other companies had already come together to submit a notice to the Attorney General’s Department to oppose the bill through the Digital Industry Group Incorporated (DIGI).
