14 Oct ASEAN Countries Increasingly Concerned with Data Leakage Incidents
A recent study by security firm InfoWatch revealed some worrying statistics on data leakage in the SouthEast Asian region which showed some interesting differences compared to global trends.
InfoWatch discovered that around 56% of data leakages are caused by internal violators in SouthEast Asia. Chief International Business Development Officer of InfoWatch Group Vladimir Shutemov said that it was disturbing to see a high percentage of leaks stem from ‘privileged users’ such as execs and system admins.
However, when categorized by industries, it showed that 43% of the data leakages came from public institutions such as law enforcement agencies and other government organizations, which is a huge difference compared to a mere 13% globally.
