05 Jun Apple Allows Telegram Update Despite Russian Warning
Apple had reportedly allowed popular encrypted messaging app Telegram to update a day after user complaints began to mount online.
CEO Pavel Durov thanked the company and Tim Cook for allowing users to download the latest version of Telegram which is compliant with the new European data privacy laws. Russia had previously pressured both Apple and Google to remove Telegram from its app stores.
Apple did not provide a reason for the reversal of its decision, but the company had said that it would seek to limit takedowns to specific countries whenever possible.
