04 Sep Android Users Warned of Triout Spy Malware on Play Store
Cybersecurity company Bitdefender recently warned against an “extremely powerful” strain of malware called Triout which may be carried be some apps on Google’s Play Store.
It is said that the spy malware makes records of every call, logs SMS messages and every picture or video on the infected device. It can also monitor the device’s GPS coordinates and then send these sensitive details to an attacker-controlled command-and-control server.
Senior e-threat analyst Bogdan Botezatu said that Triout is probably being used in a highly targeted espionage attack against a limited set of people, most of who are in Israel.
