Amnesty International: Google’s “Chat” Shows Total Contempt for Privacy

Amnesty International’s Technology and Human Rights researcher Joe Westby recently blasted Google’s new “Chat” messaging service and accused the search giant of showing a total contempt for the privacy of Android users for not using end-to-end encryption.

Westby added that Google’s decision was out of step with current attitudes to data privacy, especially in the wake of the Facebook-Cambridge Analytica scandal.

Amnesty International says end-to-end encryption is the minimum assurance for a messaging app to keep user data private.
