22 Nov Amazon Accidentally Leaks Customer Names, Email Addresses
Amazon admitted this week that it had accidentally leaked the names and email addresses of some of its users due to a technical error.
The company had already sent out emails notifying affected customers that they did not need to change their passwords or take any actions. However, some users complained of the lack of details regarding the leak and pointed out that Amazon should inform them the who, where, what, and how of the incident.
It was noted that customers around the world may have been affected, and Amazon’s secrecy may get it into trouble with privacy watchdogs in Europe who are likely to require a more precise and detailed breach notification.
