ACLU Warns Against Privacy-Invading Tech Gifts

The American Civil Liberties Union recently warned that a number of popular high tech gadgets being gifted this holiday season could potentially invade the recipient’s privacy.

The non-profit cautioned that smart speakers and devices like Alexa, Apple’s Homepod, or Google Home are essentially microphones that transmit your information and on occasion, can accidentally be woken up.

ACLU also said that fitness trackers and wearables such as FitBit collect a lot of very personal information from the user, and said that people should be very aware of the potential implications of using the technology.
