16 Jan Aadhaar to Use Facial Recognition Technology
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) recently announced that it will be introducing facial authentication as a means of verification. According to the UIDAI, this should help users who are having issues using other forms of biometric verification, such as fingerprint and iris scanning.
A spokesperson for the UIDAI said that the method will only be allowed “on need basis”, and only in combination with another authentication factor.
The recent developments came in the backdrop of an alleged breach where a reporter exposed that Aadhaar data can be bought online for a minimal amount.
