13 Dec 815,000 Canadian Possibly Affected by Uber Breach
Uber revealed last Monday that the information of around 815,000 Canadians may have been affected by the data breach that had struck the company in 2016.
The federal privacy commissioner revealed earlier this week that his office had formally opened an investigation on the breach which had compromised sensitive data, including bank account and credit card numbers, of the company’s 57 million users. The commissioner however, did not give any further details and noted confidentiality provisions under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act
Uber Canada spokesman Jean-Christophe de le Rue said that they will be cooperating with the investigation.
