27 Dec San Diego School District Hacked, Personal Data of 500,000 Individuals Compromised
The San Diego Unified School District issued a breach notice last week which revealed that a hacker had been able to steal the personal information of around 500,000 individuals including students and staff.
The hacker had reportedly phished some of the staff to gain login credentials. Although some of the employees did report the suspicious emails to their IT department, it was too late and the breach had only been discovered last October.
However, the San Diego Unified Police and its IT staff were able to identify the hacker and reset all compromised accounts to shut down any other unauthorized access to its network.
