27 Dec Hackers Caught Selling Kids’ Identities on Black Market
A recent report by Motherboard revealed that the personal information of youngsters are being sold on the black market like Dream and Empire for as low as $10 each, and is often sold by hackers in bulk.
Emily Wilson, VP of Terbium Labs, said that hackers who were able to get the information from hospital or government records usually sell the data in full sets of information, known as “fullz”. Fullz include include information such as the kid’s social security numbers, names, addresses, phone numbers, and dates of birth.
The FTC advises parents who suspect that their child’s information has been compromised to go to one of the three major credit reporting bureaus: Experian, TransUnion, or Equifax and request a credit freeze.
