30 Dec Yoti App Attempts to Provide Users Authentication Without Identification
The company behind a new smartphone app called Yoti (Your Own Trusted Identity) which was launched last month, says that it aims to provide users with a biometric digital identity that will eliminate the need to use different passwords for different websites and services.
In a recent interview, Yoti CEO Robin Tombs explained that Yoti seeks to preserve the user’s privacy by giving them a way to authenticate while staying anonymous or pseudonymous. Tombs pointed out that this is possible since most companies and services do not really need to know the whole identity of the user, but rather just one or two bits of information as a guarantee.
Tombs added that while Yoti should help curb the need to create multiple online identities, it won’t be able to stop users from creating them.
