18 Aug WhatsApp Confirms They Are Not Sharing EU User Data with Facebook
Earlier this week, WhatsApp confirmed on their website that they are still not exchanging EU user data with Facebook. The messaging platform is currently in engagement with Ireland’s data protection regulating body regarding changes made to their privacy policy last year, which stated that user details and other personal data would be shared to Facebook.
WhatsApp added that until they reach an understanding with the Irish Data Protection Commissioner, the suspension of user data sharing with its parent company will stand.
DPC says their objective is to implement a process for WhatsApp users where their consent on how their personal data is used is obtained in a transparent, fair, and legal way.
