12 Jul Virgin Airlines Posts Viral “Mile-High” Video of Couple on Facebook
A video of a couple emerging from a plane restroom was posted by Virgin Atlantic on their Facebook page last week. Taken by passenger David Eve, the video had previously gone viral on media company site LADBible with over 7.5 million views.
Since the video is met with humor, Virgin posted it with this caption:
“We’re pretty sure that’s our plane! The mood lighting certainly put a smile on their faces.” With hashtag #smilehighclub.
In a report last Sunday by CNET, Virgin was questioned whether they think they have compromised their passenger’s privacy. While many were entertained, some thought posting it was offensive.
As a response, an airline spokeswoman said that they were aware the video was viral. They claim to have shared it in the same “light-hearted” vein that the original poster intended.
Virgin maintains that the airline takes the protection of customer data very seriously, that they would never share personal information about their passengers.
