Vector Power Hit with Breach, Shuts Down App

The Vector power company recently shut down its outage app and apologized to its customers whose data had been affected in the breach.

The app, which alerts users of power outages, had a vulnerability that caused information including names, phone numbers and email addresses of those who reported via the app to be leaked.

Vector says it has already contacted the Privacy Commissioner and will soon reach out to around 35,000 customers who had been affected.
