Users Warned of Privacy Risk Involving Illegal Kodi Add-Ons

Users of the ‘fully loaded’ Kodi equipment that depended on updates from TVAddons sites are now in danger of having personal security issues.

The problem began when famous online TV plug-ins company TVAddons was shut down in June for copyright infringement. According to TorrentFreak, the company operated 3 domains that are now seized by a Canadian law group.

Since the domains have been taken, users of the illegal plug-ins are potentially exposed to surveillance from a legal entity. Those in control of the domains can access user data and survey what they have been doing with their Kodi units.

Kodi project manager Nathan Betzen said that users privacy are at risk, especially if the law group is conducting anti-piracy surveillance.

To date, there is no protection given to past TVAddon users, making it a better option for them to get rid of the service from their device to avoid security risks.
