31 Aug UK Retailer Hacked, Personal Details of 2 Million Shoppers Compromised
Earlier this week, UK tech and video game retailer CeX told their customers that their personal information might have been compromised.
The company revealed that they fell victim to a phishing attack, and had their website security breached around late last year, but no other cybersecurity problems had occurred since then. However, an unknown party contacted them this August, claiming that they were in possession of some of the data from the website.
CeX says they immediately informed authorities, including the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and National Crime Agency (NCA), but nevertheless warned their customers that information including their names, addresses, email contact details, and phone numbers may have been stolen, and that they should change their passwords as a precautionary measure.
